The regular meeting of the Board of Student Advocacy was held on Thursday, March 12, 2012 at 3:16 pm, in the Archive Room (ASC 218) in the Adanti Student Center, the Board Chair Leslie Betters being present. Representatives-at-Large: Billy O’Connor, Brian Pedalino, Nicole Cassidy, Mary Higgins, and Erin McGuckin. Guest: Chief Dooley

• Chief Dooley attended the meeting to talk about safety on campus. Chief Dooley will speak with Facilities about adding additional lighting outside of the Engleman bagel wagon. He will also contact the emergency light company to see if there is a way to improve the visibility of the emergency boxes located on the sides of buildings. We also spoke in depth about campus shuttles, the issues, and possible improvements.
• Mary and Leslie will meet with the department head of Public Health to talk about the reasoning behind the recent department wide grade change.
• We will be printing and handing out the comment/issue cards until the end of the semester.

Thursday, April 5, 2012

The regular meeting of the Board of Student Advocacy was held on Thursday, March 12, 2012 at 3:18 pm, in the Archive Room (ASC 218) in the Adanti Student Center, the Board Chair Leslie Betters being present. Representatives-at-Large: Billy O’Connor, Brian Pedalino, Nicole Cassidy, and Mary Higgins

• Brian will be emailing Chief Dooley to invite him to the BSA meeting on 4/12/12 to talk about the blue lights and visibility, police training and drills, and a few other topics.
• The purple desks were replaced in all of the classrooms of Morrill-Jennings, Davis and Pelz except room 008 in Pelz.
• Leslie will email Facilities to talk about adding additional lighting to the stairwells of Davis.
• Mary will email the head of the Public Health department to set up a meeting about the new grade requirements
• Leslie will talk with Nicole to work on possible options for helping students that need to take the new praxis even though they took praxis 2.
• Leslie will also set up a meeting with the Tutoring Center to talk about additional departments being added into the program.
• Billy will work with Andrell on the comment/issue card.

1. Logo

i.      Was told wings were too angel like, realized it was better to just go simple instead of trying to be extravagant.

ii.      Proposal will be to have one Logo with no wings. (See below)

1. Bulletin Boards

i.      Andrell talked to Denise and she said she has to talk to Eric about the designation of the new boards

ii.      Andrell talked to Kaitlyn, who said the new boards haven’t been assigned to anyone yet.

iii.      We will Go ahead and use original board to promote events and things going on throughout the end of the semester.

1. Pins

i.      Andrell got info about them and was told they would take about 4-6 weeks so they are a no go.

1. BPR goals for the end of the semester

i.      Keep updating Facebook and Twitter

ii.      Get the Password for the twitter

3. New Business:
   1. The Future of BMI- The Board Discussed the vision for BMI in future semester. The Board would like to see the delegate program remain as a way to involve more than just 25 Representatives-at-Large. The board hopes that for the upcoming semester, more students will want to be involved in SGA so that the program can grow.
4. Relay For Life: The board discussed new ways to fundraise for Relay. Pisci offered to make Chili that SGA can sell the night of the event. Sal will work on figuring out the logistics and Nicole will work with Char to fill out a purchase order for $500 to purchase and then sell other snacks and drinks from Sam’s Club.  The amount of $500 is based on how much money was spent the previous year.
5. Announcements:
   1. TKE’s Volleyball Tournament for St. Jude’s is tonight. Nicole, Jen and Stefan will be there to represent SGA.

i.      We have two logos to choose between, the one with the wings and the other without the wings. Andrell suggests we use both. Use the wings for fun things and the other for official business and official documents.

i.      There is another board available but we might have to give up our old one. We should keep our old board if we cannot keep both.

ii.      Finish the old Board.

The meeting was called to order at 1:02 pm

Old Business

2. New design for SGA Logo submitted to E-Board
   1. Will be discussed at SGA meeting during new business.

1. Ordered, being changed from blue pens with white writing to silver pens with blue writing because the company is currently OOS on blue pens. Sal says it fine.
1. Banner for Conn Hall
   1. Jermaine talked to Service Team to explain the idea of the banner, and they are board. Service Team will send an email with names and emails of individuals who are willing to help.
2. SGA Table Cloth
   1. Preliminary information from Darter is about $250 for blue with white printing. Instant printing did not respond to quote request yet.
   2. Waiting for actual quote from darter,  still figuring out what to put on the table cloth.

New Business

1. Need help to decorate the board, need board supplies, themes. He will seek help from other representatives.
   1. Jermaine, Leslie, Matt offered but anyone can help.
   2.  Mondays, Wednesday, and Thursday are possible dates for the board updating in front of 201.
   3. Idea on advertising the topic being discussed on our board and also advertising new speakers.
